Next month’s roster of activities at Cape Coral Lee County Public Library offers topics for all ages.

Adult Programs
Download Drop-In
11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 6, 20
Receive personalized help downloading eBooks, eAudioBooks, movies, music and more from Libby/OverDrive and hoopla, two of Lee County Library System’s popular online content providers. Support also will be available to registered users of the National Library Service’s Braille and Audio Reading Download service (BARD) which is provided through Home Borrower Services and Lee County Talking Books.
Note: Attendees should bring their favorite tablet, e-reader or phone. Be sure it’s fully charged and have passwords for downloading apps available. Kindle users also must have an Amazon account and password. Patrons interested in BARD should contact Talking Books at 239-533-4780 before attending to ensure they have an active account or find out how to set one up.

Book Discussion: “The God of the Woods” by Liz Moore

Ruth Bader Ginsburg: “I Dissent”

From her early days as a pioneering lawyer to her historic tenure on the Supreme Court, Ginsburg was a fearless advocate for gender equality, civil rights and fairness under the law. Crafts at Cape: Watercolors
10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 10

Learn simple techniques to create different shapes and patterns and use those skills to make cards. Each class has a maximum seating of 20. Registration is required and is guaranteed until the start of the program.
Emily Dickinson’s Poetry
2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 13, 20, 27
Emily Dickinson is often considered one of America’s greatest poets. While many recognize her name, few have delved deeply into her work. In this series, David Webb will guide participants through 32 of Dickinson’s poems, sparking lively discussion and exploration. By registering for this program, you agree to attend all four sessions. Books will be available for pickup a week before the start of the series.
Beginner Spanish Class
2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 14
This course is designed for those new to the Spanish language. Learn fundamental vocabulary, essential phrases and basic grammar in a fun, informal and interactive environment. Join us and learn the basics to start a conversation. Registration is required.
Adult Coloring

Gone are the days when coloring was just for kids. Adult coloring is a fun way to relax, spark your creativity and meet new people. Join us for a laid-back session where you can unwind and bring a picture to life with color. No need to be an artist. All skill levels are welcome. Coloring pages designed especially for adults, as well as colored pencils, will be provided. Registration is required.
Safety at Sea

This fun, beginner-friendly session will introduce you to the exciting world of ocean and river cruising, while focusing on how to travel with confidence. Learn how to choose the right trip, what to expect on board and practical tips for smooth sailing. Registration is required.
Waste in Motion: The Full Cycle Experience

Discover the innovative processes behind recycling and waste-to-energy. Presented by Lee County Solid Waste. Registration is required.
Citizen’s Academy: Cape Coral Parks and Recreation

Learn about the more than 39 parks and recreation locations, including waterfront parks, playgrounds, athletic complexes, community centers, tennis amenities, a youth center and skate park, boat ramps and a premier public golf course. Discover how their year-round programs, classes and special events are designed for all ages, abilities and interests.
Holocaust Pop-Up Museum

Step into a moving journey through one of history’s most pivotal moments with the Holocaust Museum and Cohen Education Center’s impactful traveling exhibit. Adapted and condensed from their renowned permanent exhibit, this powerful display brings the Holocaust’s timeline and its lasting impact to life in a compelling and accessible format. Featuring 17 beautifully designed foam panels, mini artifact cases and interactive QR code stations with testimonies from local Holocaust Survivors, this exhibit offers a profound, self-guided experience that educates, honors and inspires. Don’t miss this chance to experience, reflect and remember.
Holocaust Survivor Stories
1:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 22
Join Erin Blankenship of the Holocaust Museum & Cohen Education Center of Naples to learn about the museum and discuss the importance of Holocaust education. In addition, second generation Holocaust survivor Sol Awend will share his parents’ and stepfather’s stories of survival in numerous concentration camps. A Q&A session will follow. Registration is required.
Brain Health & Memory
2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 28
Explore dementia defined risk factors, the different levels of cognitive decline, 10 early warning signs and symptoms of dementia and the common types of dementia. Learn healthy habits for your brain, how to create your community care team, the stressors and needs of care partners and resources available within the community. Presented by Lee Health, Stephanie Malally, MSW. Registration is required.
Children’s Programs
Learn, Play & Grow

Sponsored by Healthy Start of SWFL, free developmental screenings will be offered for children ages 2 months – 5 years. Children can enjoy crafts, books, toys and games that help them learn and grow while parents receive helpful resources. No registration is required, but space is limited to 40 children plus their caregiver. Tickets available 30 minutes before start of program.
PreK STEAMfest

For ages 2-5 years. Get ready to explore, build and create. Families are invited to learn and play together through engaging STEAM stations. Supplies provided while they last. No registration required.
Kids Craft Corner

For ages 5-11 years. Join us for a fun, guided crafting series where imagination takes the lead. Kids will experiment with textures, colors and materials to make their very own masterpieces while developing confidence, fine motor skills and a lifelong love for creativity. Kids Read Down Fines

Children and teens with overdue fines on their account can reduce their fine by $2 for every 15 minutes they read during this program. Earn up to a maximum of $8 in one session. Credit will be applied to cards issued to patrons age 18 and under and can be used only for overdue fines. Please bring your library card and check in at youth desk.
Preschool Storytime

For children ages 3-5 years. Your preschooler will build relationships, meet new friends and develop school readiness skills. This fun and interactive storytime fosters independent thinking and a lifelong love of learning through reading, talking, singing, writing and playing. Children attend this program independently while parents and caregivers wait nearby. Space is limited to 14 preschool-aged children. Baby Rhyme Time
