Next month’s roster of activities at Cape Coral Lee County Public Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:

Adult Programs

English Café

6 p.m., Tuesdays, April 4, 11, 18, 25

10 a.m., Fridays, April 14, 21, 28

Free informal, conversation sessions for adult ESOL/ESL students.

The Property Insurance

Crisis in Florida

2 p.m., Tuesday, April 4

Join financial educator Brett Burkey for an informative session on property insurance. Florida’s property insurance rates have almost doubled in the last five years and they are nearly triple the national average. Yet, insurers have been losing money and 15 of them have claimed insolvency since 2020. Hurricane risk might seem like the obvious problem, but several other man-made drivers contribute greatly to this collapse. We will discuss the problems plaguing the insurance industry in Florida and the increasing challenges they create for the residents seeking to hold on to their piece of paradise. Registration is required.

Book Discussion: “We Are All the Same in the Dark” by Julia Heaberlin

11 a.m., Wednesday, April 5

It’s been a decade since Trumanell Branson disappeared. Meanwhile, her brother, Wyatt, has been cleared of any charges but sentenced in the court of public opinion. Crafts at Cape: Mini Libraries

Celebrate National Library Week by recreating a Mini Library in a tin can. Supplies and instructions will be provided. Space is limited to 25. Registration is required.

Receive personalized help downloading e-books, movies, music and more from Overdrive/Libby and Hoopla, two of Lee County Library System’s largest online content providers. Bring your fully charged digital device for this hands-on help session. Note: Please bring any passwords you may need for downloading apps. Kindle users will also need an Amazon account and their password for accessing it.

Crafts at Cape: Book Folding Art

11 a.m., Saturday, April 15

Book folding is the art of folding the pages within books to create 3D shapes. Watch a brief presentation on book folding and create a simple hedgehog design. All supplies provided. Space is limited to 20. Registration is required.

Book Sale

Members Only Preview Sale: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., Thursday, April 20

9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Friday, April 21

9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Saturday, April 22

Friends of the Cape Coral Library is holding its annual Book Sale Fundraising Event. The Member Preview Sale is for members only. Become a member at the door for only $15 per family. Over 10,000 titles, bargains galore, plus a selection of collectibles. Cash or check only. Proceeds from the event are used to support the Cape Coral Public Library.

Children’s Programs

Lego Club

4 p.m., Thursday, April 6

Drop in for building challenges the whole family will enjoy. For ages 5-11. No registration required. All materials are provided.

Family Storytime

10 a.m., Saturday, April 1

For children through age 5 and caregivers. Families with young children enjoy a variety of stories, songs, rhymes and movement. First-come, first-served. Space is limited. Please pick up a ticket at the Youth Services desk.

Spring Craft

3:30 p.m., Monday, April 3

Join us for a spring inspired arts and crafts program. There will be paint and glitter, so please dress for mess. For ages 3-6. Caregivers must accompany children for assistance with activities. Space is limited. Registration is required.

Preschool Storytime

11 a.m., Tuesdays, April 4, 11, 18, 25

For ages 3-5. Children attend this program independently while parents and caregivers wait nearby. First-come, first-served. Space is limited. Please arrive early and pick up a ticket at the Youth Services desk.

Toddler Tales

11 a.m., Wednesdays, April 5, 12, 19, 26

For ages 18-36 months and caregivers. Toddlers and caregivers move and groove during this interactive storytime. First-come, first-served. Space is limited. Please arrive early and pick up a ticket at the Youth Services desk.

Baby Rhyme Time

10 a.m., Thursdays, April 6, 13, 20, 27

For babies up to 18 months. Babies and caregivers wiggle and giggle in a supportive environment. First-come, first-served. Space is limited. Please arrive early and pick up a ticket at the Youth Services desk.

Kids Read Down Fines

1-2 p.m., Saturday, April 8

Children and teens can earn a $2 credit on overdue fines for every 15 minutes they read in the designated area for a total of $8 in one session. Please bring your library card.

Teen Programs

Anime Club

4:30 p.m., Monday, April 3

For teens and tweens interested in anime, manga, Japanese culture and other pop culture genres. Watch anime with friends and make themed crafts. For ages 11-18. No registration required. All supplies provided. Sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Coral Library.

Kids Read Down Fines

For ages 11-18. Join us for some timeless fun, full of peaceful good vibes and bright bursts of color. No registration required. All supplies provided while they last. Sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Coral Library.
