Next month’s roster of activities at Northwest Regional Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:

Adult Programs

Knit and Stitch

10 a.m., Wednesday, March 1

A casual, self-guided group of knitters and crocheters that join together to share projects, ideas and techniques. Participants are encouraged to bring their own projects and tools. Basic materials and supplies are available for newcomers.

English Café

10:30 a.m., Thursdays, March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

Free informal, conversation sessions for adult ESOL/ESL students.

Random Acts of Art for Adults

1 p.m., Thursday, March 2

Learn a new art technique or discover an old favorite at this pop-up art class for adults. The project will not be announced until you arrive and seating will be limited to the supplies on hand. Registration is required.

Tech Tuesdays: Ancestry.com Edition

2 p.m., Tuesday, March 7

Interested in genealogy but unsure where to begin? Join us for a fun and informative session where staff will share tips and tricks for running searches that will help you uncover the story of your family on Ancestry.com. Registration required.

Books & Bagels

10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 8

Do you enjoy robust, engaging book discussions? Join us and share your latest reading recommendations. Bagels and coffee will be served.

Coloring Club

2 p.m., Saturday, March 11

Join us for a relaxing afternoon of coloring and making new friends. Supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring your own coloring books should you wish.

Artsy Adult Craft:

Paper Making Project

1 p.m., Saturday, March 18

Recycling at its best. This month we will be learning the basics of re-making scrap paper into something new. This project can get a bit messy, so wear appropriate attire. Registration is required.

History of Rock n’ Roll

from 1960 to the 1980s

6 p.m., Tuesday, March 21

Join Dr. Clay Motley from Florida Gulf Coast University as he discusses some of Rock n’ Roll’s most influential decades. Dr. Motley is an expert on the history and culture of the U.S. South, particularly through the lens of its popular music, such as blues, country and Rock n’ Roll.

Tea Time Talks

6 p.m., Tuesday, March 28

Do you enjoy robust, engaging book discussions? Join us and share your latest reading recommendations. Tea and cookies will be served.

Children’s Programs

Kids Read Down Fines

4:30-5:30 p.m., Wednesdays, March 1, 8

11 a.m. to noon, Saturday, March 18

Children and teens can earn a $2 credit on overdue fines for every 15 minutes they read in the designated area for a total of $8 in one session. Please bring your library card.

Ants in Your Pants Dance Party

10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 9

Shake your sillies out at the library. Get ready to twist and shout at this special dance party. We’ll boogie down to pop hits and favorite preschool tunes. For ages 2 – 5.

Coloring Club

2 p.m., Saturday, March 11

Join us for a relaxing afternoon of coloring and making new friends. Supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring your own coloring books should you wish.

Kindness Club

4:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 14

Join us at the library to create kindness in our community. Kids can participate in fun activities designed to encourage kindness and help make the world a better place. For ages 5-11. Registration begins Feb. 14. Your registration is guaranteed only until the start of the program.

Family Storytime

10 a.m., Saturday, March 18

For children through age 5 and caregivers. Families with young children enjoy a variety of stories, songs, rhymes and movement.

Birthday Club

6:15 p.m., Tuesday, March 21

Is it your child’s birthday month? Come celebrate it with us at our monthly birthday bash. All supplies and light refreshments provided. For ages 1 – 5. Registration for the birthday child is required and is guaranteed only until the start of the program.

LEGO Club

2 p.m., Saturday, March 25

Join us for a short story and Lego building activities. Lego bricks provided for use during this program.

Baby Rhyme Time

10:30 a.m., Monday, March 27

For babies up to 18 months. Babies and caregivers wiggle and giggle in a supportive environment. Space is limited. Arrive early and visit the children’s desk to check in. First-come, first-served.

Books and Blankets

6:15 p.m., Tuesday, March 28

Join us with your blankies and pajamas for this nighttime edition of storytime. Your whole family is invited to this enjoyable, all-ages storytime that encourages the development of pre-reading skills through songs, rhymes, fingerplays and stories.

Toddler Tales

10:45 a.m., Wednesday, March 29

For ages 18-36 months and caregivers. Toddlers and caregivers move and groove during this interactive storytime. Space is limited. Arrive early and visit the children’s desk to check in. First-come, first-served.

Preschool Storytime

10:45 a.m., Thursday, March 30

For ages 3-5. Children attend this program independently while parents and caregivers wait nearby. Space is limited. Arrive early and visit the children’s desk to check in. First-come, first-served.

Teen Programs

Tiny Art Show Kits

March 6-31

Create a tiny masterpiece and display your artistic talent at the library’s Tiny Art Show.

Beginning March 6, pick up an art kit in the Teen Zone. Kits contain a mini canvas and art supplies. Create your art at home or in the library and then return it by March 31 for display in April. Kits are available first come, first served and while supplies last.
