Bunone wins grand prize in Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife Burrowing Owl Photo Contest

Jessica Bunone has been selected the Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife’s Burrowing Owl Photo Contest grand prize winner. Friends, relatives and local dignitaries gathered Saturday, June 5, at Rotary Park for the big reveal.

Professional photographers Tammy McQuade and Dennis Gingerich, along with Cape Coral Mayor John Gunter, judged the entries.

Talented amateur photographers, ranging in age from 9 to 86, vied for recognition. Bunone’s photo will be prominently displayed on the official 2022 Burrowing Owl Festival T-shirt. The festival, held in February each year, is the largest nature festival in South Florida.

In addition to the grand prize winner, Jane Lyons was selected as the first place winner in the Adult Category, with Rosalie Kreulen taking second and Alan Winslow third. Honorable mentions were also presented to Richard Wallace, Connie Hessler and Marjorie Blackwell.

In the Youth Category, Carlie MacFarland was the winner, with Anna Gibson taking second place and Blake Archey third. Hadley Phillips was awarded an honorable mention in the Youth Category.
