By Staff | Feb 11, 2021

The National Commander of the American Legion, James Oxford, has recognized four Cape Coral Post 90 American Legion members with the National Membership Incentive Award.

Oxford awarded the National Commander Membership Excellence pin to four legionnaires from Post 90, who recruited multiple new members into The American Legion. The legionnaires honored are Ted Clark, Bill McKernan, Amy O’Neill and Jeff Zambrana. A new member is any eligible person joining for the 2020 membership year. The four honorees are part of the Post 90 Marketing Committee responsible for media relations, and community outreach. The committee recruited most of the new members at New Residents Club (NRC) meetings and festivals such as Oktoberfest, the Irish Festival and Bike Night.

American Legion Post 90 was founded in April 2001 and is located on Southeast 47th Street in Cape Coral. The Legion sponsors scholarships, Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, youth baseball, blood drives, VA volunteer and national emergency funds programs to assist veterans in need. The Legion works every day on behalf of all U.S. servicemen and women. For more than 100 years, the American Legion has acted as the nation’s leading advocate for U.S. military veterans’ benefits. It is recognized as a national leader in transition assistance from the military to civilian life, providing resources for careers, education opportunities, and childcare.
