A penta plant.

Whether you’re an expert gardener looking for your newest addition or someone just wanting to browse the local selection, plant lovers will likely find what they’re looking for this weekend at Rotary Park.

Cape Coral’s Parks and Recreation Department will host a Tropical Plant Bazaar this Saturday with the Garden Club of Cape Coral taking part and providing experts to the public.

The plant sale runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and locals can peruse a myriad of greenery, including tropicals, bromeliads, butterfly plants, palms, edibles and more available for purchase.

“The Garden Club will be bringing an assortment of different plants,” said Horticulture Chair Dona Baliotis. “Our prices are geared towards the economy shopper and we want to raise awareness of what we do.”

Local vendors will also be in attendance, bringing a large variety of options to residents.

Many Garden Club members are Master Gardeners and can provide knowledgeable insight.

“Our mission is do help people learn what plants perform well in this area,” Baliotis said. “We know what needs low maintenance, what thrives, what can provide habitats and food for butterflies and bees and to really educate people about plants.”

All plants for purchase from the club are well identified with care requirements and needs.

“We’ll be fully staffed with plenty of Garden Club members to help anyone with any questions they may have,” Baliotis said.

All proceeds from the sale go directly back into the community. The Garden Club provides scholarships for Cape high school seniors, Habitat for Humanity, the Rose Garden, Butterfly Garden and other locally based endeavors.

The Garden Club of Cape Coral will hold its 11th annual March in the Park Plant Sale in March of 2021.
