** Christian Women’s Connection of Cape Coal

The Christian Women’s Connection of Cape Coral invite all ladies to its “Love My Thrifty Fashions” Breakfast Monday, April 11, at the Palmetto Country Club, 1940 S.W. 9th Court in Cape Coral. The breakfast will run from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and the cost is $17, inclusive.

The breakfast will feature one of the group’s most popular events, “A Thrifty Fashion Show.” Participants shop for an outfit in consignment stores and then model it in the fashion show. It’s always a treat to see the outfits and discover who was the thriftiest shopper.

Inspirational speaker Christine Sporrer, who is of Ukranian heritage and an author of praise poetry, will share a story of hope when circumstances seem bleak.

Providing the entertainment will be singer Debbie Mercer.

All reservations must be prepaid and are due by Wednesday, April 6. Call 239-567-0808 for further information.

Those who would like to sit together should arrive early. Doors open at 9 a.m.

This will be the last breakfast until October.

** MOAA

Dana Brunett, Cape Coral Economic Development manager, will be the featured speaker at the regular monthly meeting of the Calusa Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America on Saturday, April 9. The 9 a.m. meeting will be held at Gulf Coast Village, 1333 Santa Barbara. Brunett will speak about current activities in the City and plans for the future. A question-and-answer session will follow his prepared remarks.

All current, former, and retired military officers and spouses are invited to attend. The cost for the buffet breakfast is $10, payable at the door. Reservations are requested and may be made by contacting Dixie Buick, 945-5030, or calusamoaa@yahoo.com.

MOAA is a national organization of military officers that supports the interests of military members of all ranks–past, present and future. Regular membership is open to all current and former officers, and associate membership is available to all who support our armed forces. ** Fort Myers Republican Women

Republican candidates for Lee County School Board Districts 2 and 4will be the speakers during a forum held by Fort Myers Republican Women on Tuesday, April 19. The candidates will provide their platforms during the monthly luncheon. Candidates will be asked questions from the audience following their prepared remarks.

The public is invited to attend the luncheon and the program being held at The Helm Club, The Landings, South Fort Myers. A social hour begins at 11:15 a.m. The noon lunch will be followed by the business meeting and program. The luncheon cost is $18. Reservations are required by Thursday, April 14, and may be made by contacting Tina Laurie, 489-4701. Checks may be written to Republican candidates of their choice and the club will pay for the luncheon.

** Authors sought

The Friends of the Pine Island Library is sponsoring a meet local authors event at the library on April 6 and is looking for local authors to participate. Authors who would like to participate are asked to call Mary Kushnir at 239 558 8778.

** Organ Transplant Recipients of Southhwest Florida

The Organ Transplant Recipients of Southhwest Florida Organ Transplant Support Group will meet next at 11:30 a.m. sharp on April 7 at the Lee Memorial Outpatient Center at The Sanctuary in the second floor meeting room. A?light lunch will be provided.

The Outpatient Center is at 8960 Colonial Center Drive, Fort Myers.
